Conference And Workshop On Diversity In A Kindergarten In Barcelona
Are you interested in developing your teaching resources? Would you like to share your experience of teaching young children about gender? Come to our BODI training and conference between 28th and 30th June 2017 in Barcelona! The aim is to provide tools and resources to teachers and other school professionals working with children from 3 to 6 years old to address gender issues. We will discuss several topics that are relevant to older children such as: why people have different skin colours; why are boys and girls different and what is the difference; and what makes a family.

In the BODI project, we have carried out extensive research on the approach in life and in relationship processes of children from 3 to 6 years. This research revealed the urgent need to incorporate skills and abilities of coexistence in diversity and intercultural communication from early childhood. This is to ensure the effective fulfillment of the rights of all children as well as the full exercise of equal participation for all of our children.

In the closing of this conference, we wish to:
  • Contribute to the development of educational policies and practices inside and outside of school environment, in relation to intercultural and gender education, and the inclusion of children in culturally diverse environments. We can do this through analysis of existing practices and evaluation of method(s) developed within the project.

  • Contribute to the development of competencies of the families, teachers and other professionals that work with children with new methods and practical tools that they can use in their own environment.

  • Contribute to the development of the school's capacity to address cultural diversity, and to ensure that children and their parents of different cultural backgrounds are not excluded.

  • Provide children with tools to participate in an intercultural society that is tolerant of cultural and gender diversity.

  • Provide tools and strategies to address sensitive issues regarding the body, health and sexuality of our children.
